1. Natural Wood Disclaimer
Heavy timber is a natural product. Checking, cracking, shrinkage, twisting, grain variation, color variation, and seasonal movement are normal characteristics of solid wood — not defects. These characteristics do not automatically indicate structural failure and do not, on their own, qualify for warranty replacement.
2. Finish and Stain Disclaimer
Stain and finish color can vary based on species, grain, moisture content, exposure, and application method. Exterior finishes are maintenance items: recoat intervals depend on sun exposure, weather, elevation, and the specific product used. Plan on periodic inspection and recoating to keep your structure looking its best. See our Timber Care Guide for recommendations.
3. Steel Plate Disclaimer
Steel connector plates and hardware may require touch-up paint after handling, transport, or installation. Long-term finish performance depends on the environment, scratches sustained during the build, exposure to moisture and salt, and ongoing maintenance. Keep a small can of matching touch-up paint on hand for the life of the structure.
4. Engineering Disclaimer
Engineering, stamped drawings, and site-specific load calculations are included only when specifically quoted and purchased. Local code requirements, snow and wind loads, footing design, seismic conditions, and permitting vary by jurisdiction. Customers are responsible for confirming local requirements and providing the engineering needed for permitting and inspection in their area.
5. Installation Disclaimer
Unless separately contracted in writing, Timber Frame Solutions supplies pre-cut, pre-fit kits — not local installation labor. The customer is responsible for qualified labor, site preparation, footings, equipment, safety, and final code compliance. See our Installation Expectations page for a typical crew and equipment list.
6. Shipping and Freight Disclaimer
Customers are responsible for offload equipment (typically a telehandler or forklift) and safe unloading at the delivery site. Visible freight damage should be noted on the delivery paperwork and photographed at the time of delivery. Missing or damaged items must be reported promptly so we can work with the carrier on a resolution. See our Freight & Offload Checklist for full details.
7. Payment and Custom Order Terms
Most kits are custom-cut to the specific project. Once production begins, custom-cut materials may not be cancellable or returnable. Deposits, balances, and payment milestones follow the written quote or invoice for your project. Lead times are confirmed at the time of order.
8. Maintenance Responsibility
Long-term performance depends on ongoing care. Customers are responsible for routine inspection, keeping the structure clean and free of debris, maintaining proper drainage and airflow around timbers, stain and finish maintenance, and periodic hardware checks. See our Timber Care Guide and Maintenance pages for a recommended schedule.
